Eringobragh1916 Report 18 Jul 2010 18:53

Evening John....Yes that was the case..re Patrick and Brid. but there appears to be no other Patrick Healey with son a John (1878) in any of the Durham Mining villages at the time....
What I find curious is why John went to the Yorkshire area...Unusual for a miner to move Collieries let alone areas...

John

John Report 18 Jul 2010 18:38

Patrick Healy and Bridget (nee Milmour) wrong tack!

Thanks to information from Erin re: aboves marriage, I have established that they are a blank lead. They married in 1878! My grandfather John Healey (according to his marriage certificate) was married in 1918 at the age of 42. Which means he was born @1876. And he does not occur in the 1881 census for Patrick and Bridget.

Firstly Lindsey: Thank you for your efforts!
There are four items of information that gel, My great grandfather Patrick was irish, and a miner. I do not know about Kate?
My grandfather John was living in Annfield Plain when he married in 1918.

Alison: Thank you for your efforts!
Yes John was/is my grandfather. John was 42, Josephina(nee Newton) was 21 when married. You also have Josephinas date of death correct.

Gael (from down under): Thank you for your efforts!
The deaths for John need further research, excepting the death in 1915. I know he was still alive in 1929. Patricks birth was 30th August 1920 in Stanley, Durham. But may have been registered in September.

NinjaLady: Thank you for your efforts!
All of your information is spot on! The only 'fly in the ointment' was someones error in registering Josephener's/Josephinas marriage name as Noaley instead of Healey?

Eringobragh: Thank you for your efforts!
I found what you have unearthed to be most exciting, the information seems to tick a lot of boxes. The only fact that seems out of kilter, tends to be that John is shown as 6 in the 1891 census which would have made him 33 in 1918 (at marriage) but shows on the marr. cert as being 42!
I also mispelt the Rigdway name, I believe it was Ridgway (without the e) and they lived within spitting distance of Mexborough.

Thanks All.. any more info please keep it coming. It is gratefully received.

Eringobragh1916 Report 17 Jul 2010 15:28

John...Good to have you back...!! If Patrick and Brid. are your family then Patrick never shifted from the same address all his married/working live...as I said previously I dont have access to the Census' but with some mooching around found he was was living in Greencroft 1901....(1911 Census has been added earlier to your thread)
Plenty of Healey/Healy's in Doncaster area same time frames and most of the "earlier" generation also came from Co's Roscommon/Sligo..the Ridgeways tended to be located in the Mexborough area...and later..1901 onwards..
Havent found a family connection between the two families as yet...

If the Lanchester birth is correct, then the mothers maiden name was Newton

This is possibly the marriage for Josephine and John

Marriages Sep 1918 (>99%)

Healey John Newton Lanchester 10a 622
Newton Josephener Noaley Lanchester 10a 622

It would be best to buy the marriage certificate to confirm the names of the fathers.

However, there is this Josephina Newton on the 1901 census in Co Durham

1901 England Census
about Josephina Newton
Name: Josephina Newton
Age: 2
Estimated birth year: abt 1899

Everyone else was born in Durham.

This is possibly the birth for this particular Josephina Newton

Name: Josephener Newton
Year of Registration: 1898
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: South Shields
County: Durham, Tyne and Wear

In 1911 Tom, Josephine and Lillian from the above family are in the Durham Union Workhouse.

Institution NEWTON, Josephine 1899 12 F Durham Durham

However, there is also this birth

Births Jun 1899 (>99%)
Newton Josephine Tynemouth 10b 308

Which goes with this 1911 census

Hi John,

So is John Healey your grandfather?
Do you know here was he born?
If John was your Grandfather, Josephina was a lot younger than him is that correct?

Have you any other details you can give ? Every bit helps.

Alison
