Darealjolo Report 16 Aug 2010 11:18

I have looked on 1911 census for my Great Nan, Ethel Victoria Fisher Jackson born 1905 in Edmonton.
Fathers name is Walter Isaac Jackson a General Labourer and Mothers name is Jane Elizabeth Jackson, mmn Stuckey. I have the birth cert.
The one i have found on 1911 looks like it is them but i am not sure, can another pair of eyes have a look please?
This is the one i have
Walter Jackson head 40
Elizabeth wife 38
Fred son 18
Blanche daughter 17
Kathleen daughter 14
Bertha daughter 12
Walter son 8
Ethel daughter 5
Edward son 2

Says they had 10 children, 2 died, i dont know who they are.

Thankyou

I have never found out why the name Fisher is in my great nans name. So Fisher is Walter's surname? what about Jackson.

Hello

I put the name of Ethel in with Birthplace Edmonton and this is the same as you.

If you try feeebmd for births after 1892 this will show up the relevant births, bearing in mind that around 1908 the maiden name of mother was quoted so hopefully you will see who who is still alive and then check for deaths.

Good luck

Regards

Jonesey,

Thankyou for the birth ref.

1911 says born London, so i think could be correct.

Darealjolo Report 16 Aug 2010 12:07

The address for 1911 census is the same for my Great nans birth but number 76.
Thankyou Jonesey. So i was right in first place.
Still dont understand where Fisher comes from.

Sorry i made another post, but didnt think if i added here this would get seen, so posting here, will delete other post.

Sorry to be a nuisance. I am now looking for the birth references for the Jackson family. I posted about them earlier. I cant find the references for

Walter Jackson born abt 1871 in London, there are loads and as he used the name Isaac aswell, its making it harder. Also Fred Jackson, son of Walter, born about 1893, there are loads and loads of Fred's, in London, i dont know what part.
Im going to see if the rest of the family are any easier lol.
Thankyou in advance.

Hello Janice,

Thankyou for looking again, you are very kind.
I am now confused though (nothing unusuall) are Kathleen and Bertha the same person? The Baptisms you gave me, they both have different dates.
The 1911 census said there was 10 children, 2 died, so there are
Frederick, Blanche, Kathleen, Bertha, Walter, Ethel, Edward and a George that you found, he isnt on 1911 census, that is 8.
I am having not much luck looking for the vol and page for birth certs, maybe today i will have better luck as was looking for too long yesterday.

Hi Joanne,

Sorry to have confused you. You can see from the census that Kathleen and Bertha are 2 different people. All I meant was that the addresses were the same for these 2 ie when Bertha was christened, they were still at 22 Cromwell Road.

I assume that the boy christened with frederick is one of the ones who died. I found what I thought was a death at start of 1895 but that was age 0 which doesn't tie in with a baptism in 1893 so back to the drawing board I'm afraid.

Janice,

Oh no not your fault, it takes me a while to get the information into my head and understand it clearly. I have problems understanding sometimes lol.
I was going to search for marriages and children from the siblings of my great nan but i give up already before i start lol, too many Jacksons.
Thankyou again for your help. I can now update my tree.

OK think I've sorted 1 thing out!!

I think Frederick and Walter were twins.
In Q3 of 1893 births

Islington 1b 231 is a James Walter Jackson
Islington 1b 232 is Frederick Henry Jackson

so I think James is at the bottom of one page and Frederick is at the top of the next. Looks like they were twins then and Walter didn't survive infancy. They went on to use the name again in 1903 for another son - presumably they wanted a Walter as it was dad's name.

Janice,

Awww how sad but thankyou, now i know 1 name of a child that passed away. Do you think the family stayed in the Islington area? i changed my mind and had a little look for a marriage for Frederick Henry, i found 1 in 1913, may well not be him but it is in Islington, to a Walker, Frederick H Jackson. There are so many.
