i have his family his wife and children are living in lincs
with harriets flatters family acording to 1860s census i am trying to find my grandfather thomas who married harriet in 1906 on the census for 1911 it shows my father as 11months and harriet has been married 5 years

Just reading the info re Tom Jessop. Whilst it is available on line from the lancashire library, the news from the papers available is not just for the Lancashire area, unless you have had a pm to inform you differently, I would think that his family were together in Dalton Huddersfield. JLe

If this is Tom Jessop who was a Carter by trade and lived in Dalton and married Harriet, from reading the archive newspaper reports it's seems that the marriage was quite turbulent.

I have read reports that he was constantly in front of the School Board for his children not attending school and a few reports of incidents at home regarding his wife...... maybe be link to a conviction??

i have tried google but it only tells me about one mill raid and the horsfall murder the account iread was more detailed ,naming all the prosoners and the trials which was contraversal at that time .i think i may have to try york castle to seesif they have any arcives on line it was possible not thomas but his parents

Just trying to confirm your enquiry. Regarding the Huddersfield riots and the Luddites, it culminated with the death of William Horsfall but this took place around April 1812. If your relative was born in 1857 then I would say he was in Wakefield for some other reason. I haven't the information at hand but I know someone called Mellor was hanged. If you google "William Horsfall"+ "Luddites" it will give you some background to riot and the ultimate downfall following his murder. I will look elsewhere to see if I can find any info on Thomas Jessop- JLe
