Dear Madmeg, Sorry I didnt realise I was suppose to be replying to these mesages! this could be the answer,I always thought my Aunt Elsie was my great aunt Ethels daughter.It seems more clear now as I wasnt sure what her husbands surname was as I only knew him as Pops! What I would like to know is did Harry die before Elsie? alsoI didnt hear anything about an Alice? But I only met Aunt Elsie twice and her children David Kevin and Unis. Although I was their cousin, I was adopted. sorry again for late reply.

I'm in contact with Daphne through PM's, she is new to Genes and not quite got the hang of the message boards, so please forgive if Daphne dosen't reply immediately.

Trying to complete the picture, but can find no death of Eleanor Wheal.

Horace and Eleanor have children Horace J W 1914, Albert E 1915, John c 1917, and Nellie A E 1926.

Horatio and Miss Bruton have children Alice L D 1913, Harry W 1915 and Elsie E 1919

EDIT - I made an assumption. I now agree it is more likely that it is Henry William and Charlotte Bruton who have these children.

Meaning that Elsie is not the daughter of Horace Wheal and Ethel Bassett, but her niece.

All in Thanet.

No sign of Bassett.

Yes I discounted that Charlotte Bruton marriage cos he wasnt Horace Wheal . Those births you found were for that Elsie birth name though , she married a Mundy

I live in Kent about 9 miles from maidstone and its around 45 miles from Margate which is on the Kent Coast.

We need some feedback from Daphne I think

well cant see her birth in 1891 under Bruton or Bassett

The only other death in Kent was for an Ethel G Wheal in Maidstone 1963, aged 67 ??

EDIT - note Horace and Horatio - all sons.

There is a marriage for Henry William WHEAL to Charlotte Bruton, maybe that Elsie belonged to them and not Horace and Ethel.

This would be the couple shown on the 1911 census (above), living with parents, C Wheal born Worcester.

What if Ethel married twice?

strange cos Elsies birth gives mmn as Bruton not Bassett but cant see a Wheal/Bruton marriage

maybe that not the right Ethel Wheal death
