The 1911 census for England and Wales was taken on the night of Sunday 2 April

do you know what month the 1911 census was?

had not thought of that! also where were they in1911 if not with her would they not show up wherever they were?

sorry my mistake earlier I had to go back and re check

on the 1911 census it looks to say

on Alice's line it says "scribble" children born, 2 living, 1 died

the scribble could be a 2 or a 3

If Alice has written that she had 2 children and one died ... yet she still has 2 daughters ... one of which there is no birth entry for ... sounds like she was adopted.

It's also strange that the 1911 census says Alice had 2 children but one had died.

I think you'll need to get Evelyn's marriage cert to find any more details.

all i can tell you is that they were my husbands family and his mother was gladys may brown born to alice and john brown the year of 1911 and she had 2 1/2 sisters who were winifred and evelyn I know evelyn had 2 children kenneth and pauline but have not traced them yet.
also winifred not with alice in 1911 survey ?

Do you know when Evelyn died as the death reg should give you her age?

yes great youve got winifred but the oddity is evelyn and as you said on the 1911 census Alice has remarried but no children named on census
