dea this is awesome and am so grateful it is interesting that my father said he never knew his grandfather and no one spoke of him am wondering why cristina wa down as head of household does anyone know what an'annuitant' is. I do know that my father said she sold sweets from her kitchen window she must have been very poor.

Broxburn Silver Band

The Band formed in 1891 from the ashes of an Irish flute band and had rehearsals in the Cardross Hotel, was known as the Broxburn Co-op and now known as the snooker club. The band first entered brass band competitions in 1895.

Hi Lorraine, you don't say when Helen was born, but have you checked in the search tree box above? There are several trees with this name in them and you may well find a connection. Good luck. Cx.

You'll need to buy some credits at ScotlandsPeople. 6GBP will buy enough credits for 5 certs or census images if you're careful.
[Strictly speaking, they're not certs, but the uncertified images of the rego pages. In England, it'ld cost you 9GBP to have someone copy each entry onto certificate paper]
Images are availble from 1855 thru 1909/1934/1959 for BMDs. After that, you would have to buy certs (or extracts, as they call them) at 10GBP per.
All regos give both parents' names and MSs=Maiden Surnames (when known to the informant(s)).

Ancestry has partial transcriptions of the censuses 1841-1901 - 1911 not released until next year.

With luck, you ought to be able to get your grandparents' m.rego, and so your g grandparents names, etc. In the 1920s, abt 15% of Scottish marrs were of the so-called "irregular" sort, and these weren't always rego'ed.

i am trying to trace details of my father william Duttons family. My father is 80 next month. I know his mother was helen walkingshaw and his father thomas dutton. His family of uncles and cousins played in flute bands in broxburn. I am told that a branch of the family owned the shale mines int he area but they mved to usa turn of the last century
