Ach,Have you got Janet Park nee Jackson's death .Looks like another family member i have with Janet Byres.

I have emailed DGFHS for a search of MI'sfor the surname Park. The ifo they sent me does list booklets but not a CD. I am confused on which booklets to order as there are so many.

Nope not got anything on janet Jackson apart from on John park jnr marriage cert.

Do you think the marriage cert. could be wrong?

Ach,I think it is very poor info on the marriage Certificate,the registrar was not all that good. Just states Janet Jackson,with the word maiden name written underneath .That could mean anything,as she could have remarried a Jackson,does not say wether she is deceased.
As John Park was in Hoddam in the 1841 census ,then it is likely that is where he is buried,so i would go for Hoddam MI's .Book form fine.

Ellen the funny thing is I did a search on SP and found a marriage 23/7/1827 parish of Langholm or Staplegorton.
David Park mason of the parish of Half Morton and Janet Jackson of this parish.
I then wondered if John Park was David John.

The OPRs also record parish burials - have you checked those out on Scotlandspeople? Sometimes it involves just trawling through the entries as they may not be indexed. The amount of information in these records varies from parish to parish. You may be lucky enough to find a date of death and a date of burial and sometimes even the cause of death is recorded. These are useful as not everyone who was buried is recorded on a monument or headstone and so many never appear in the MI records.

As far as poor relief records are concerned, I think at that time the parish church would be responsible and so again any assistance would be in the Old Parish Records if they have survived.

There are 3 references to wills for a John Park , Mason, on scotlandspeople, but the last one is dated 1829.

I have tried the OPR burials on SP but got nothing don't know if I'm doing somthing wrong but I looked for John Park between 1841 and 1858.

Hi Potty, have looked through the MI at rootsweb, but nothing there. will have a look at the wills on SP.

the Janet Jackson married to David Park dies 1881 born c 1800.Don't think it's yours.As we know John Park was alive in the 1841 census then likely wills are not his.

Not all burials are recorded before 1855 and you can only try the MI's.
I have not came across a poor relief in any finch of a parish records.they have there own books.

The wills are def. not my man, have just sent for the MI's for Hoddam so maybe I will get lucky with that. This is really turning into a right mystery, but maybe you are right Ellen with the Janet Byers, it's just the name on the Marr.Cert that took me on the trail of a Janet Jackson, but like you say this could be the wrong maiden name.
