I think James Park is of his family but def not his Father as his father is John on his marriage cert and is a mason.
Maybe James is an uncle or cousin.
I have had no luck finding anything ach, sorry.
Will have to leave you to it and maybe a holiday to Hoddam Dumfriess?

The problem I've got with these as parents is I have John Parks marriage cert. to Elizabeth Hay and his parents on that are John Park Occ Mason and Janet Jackson so don't think James and Elizabeth are his parents.

ach Report 3 Oct 2010 16:03

Just had a look on SP at original 1841 census and masons wife at the side if Jane park has been crossed out, so I think this is an incorrect. I thimk she is the daughter of John & Janet Park.

ach

ach Report 3 Oct 2010 15:48

Now the 1851 one you do have a point with Janet being nee byers but with the address being the same I thought they could have different fathers.

ach

ach Report 3 Oct 2010 15:45

No it doesn't say Janet Nee Jackson I got the image from ancestory but on mine Janet is written underneath john then Jane, also jane is only 25 yrs so I assumed janet was johns wife.

Potty

Potty Report 3 Oct 2010 14:48

Does the image of the 1841 actually say that Janet is Nee Jackson? There is no mention of that on the Ancestry transcription.

Also, if I was looking at that census I would assume that Jane was John's wife. Who is written underneath John on the image?

Is this who you think is John's wife Janet in 1851 (the only Parks living in Broadmeadow)? If so, I would think she was Nee Byers not Jackson:

Yes certain I have the marriage cert, on this it gives John's father as John Park - Mason - Deceased Mother Janet Jackson.
Found them on 1841 census Info on first page of this thread.
Does this help you get your head round it?

Oh dear.
Now you are asking something.

Let me start at the marriage you have of for his son John Park jnr. occ. baker b. 1829 he married Elizabeth Hay at Eskdalmuir 8/6/1858

You are certain that this is correct for your family?yes?
Only asking.........
If so I will get it up on SP and send the bill to C..:)(Joke of course as she would tell me where to get off.

I can not see what you are doing of course so its difficult to know .
But if I can track back from John and Elizabeth it might make sense to me.

ach Report 3 Oct 2010 11:41

Help FBG this query is turning into a right mixup. think John park may have been bap david, here's waht I have found tell me what you think.
The only marriage I can find for Janet Jackson at the correct time is to a David park 23/2/1827-Langholm, dumfrieshire. It says David Park Mason of this parish (mason being the key word).

Then searched on beta for a birth for a David Park.
David Park b1789 Kirkpatrick-Fleming Dumfries.
Father William Mother Jannet Carlyle.

Now going back to the 1841 census there is a Edward Carlyle on it.
What do you think, could this be my John park alias David?
