As no-one has found a Griffiths/Gibbs marriage, you MUST get Sydney's BIRTH cert to find out the full names of his parents. If you wish to make progress, you must follow the advice you have been given by so many people who have tried to help you

You can't get info on something which doesn't seem to exist...........i.e. the marriage record

What information will i find on a marriage certificate? (british and overseas)

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 21 Oct 2010 22:15

British give you age of persons marrying, occupations, address, fathers name and occupation(If they knew it) and 2 witnesses names, which may or may not be family members.

I have only seen an India Army marriage cert and that was the same,I guess because it is under British laws/Registration.

Worth getting for every bit of info gleaned and if you want to do this then you need to get certs for verification of everything you add to your tree..

Hi, My Dad was your Granddad, Sydney's brother. I don't think I have any information that you need but I thought you would be interested to know that he had a brother, James William, who was in the RAFand married my Mum, Muriel Venables and came to live in Yorkshire. After he died, my Aunty Christel and all the children came to stay with us in Yorkshire for a while. I also remeber coming on holiday to stay with Grandma in Whitehawk Crescent and also visiting Aunty Pat, Aunty Peggy and Uncle Jack.
