Hi Mel

Yes I have this on the marriage certificate which is always a help - it is just so hard on the census finding them, thought I was OK when I found them on the 1851 census and then nothing xx

Hi I am not one of the expert helpers on GR I am definitely a novice but my G/Grandfather was found first with spelling McKeowie By the time we had sorted census/birth/marriage out we were up to 9 different spellings( McKeon/McKone/McKowie etc) and found something saying surmane spelt 17 different ways. These spellings were on official documents so well woth trying varations.Throughtout the search we had 1 common factor my Grandmother Jane and that kept us on the right track
On one census GGF was listed as Mrs McCanns father with his surname as McCann

Middy,

Care to share the data you already have?

This will gives us people dates and places....without which we cannot help you!

I cannot find any Questell's in 1851 however there are alot of Quested's. My guess is you've used a site that has transcriptions issues!! (everyone here knows what it is)

Hi everyone

I am looking for some relations with the surname Quested, however I have only managed to find them on the 1851 Census and even then the surname was transcribed as Questell - could this be the reason why I cannot find them on any other Census - because the name has been transcribed incorrectly, I have searched under Questell for other years just in case but nothing, any ideas how I could find them??

Thanks
