This is all getting very complicated and i'm not surprised its confusing you because its confusing me. All I know is that my mums brother, we knew as Roy was born well before her and she was born 1928. I know he married a woman called Linda Ingrams but their marriage cert shows him as being called Malcolm W R Cooper. I wondered if the R stands for Roy . I just cannot find any birth certificate for Roy Cooper born 1916, anywhere in the country. His father , my Grandfarther was born in Birmingham. I know nothing about Roy's birth mother.

Henry must have been married before then was he a widower on the marriage to Gwendoline?

Pamela

Pamela Report 18 Mar 2012 17:53

There is no age given on the marraige cert for him

According to a tree on Ancestry Harry (Henry) Percy Cooper was born c1899 in Aylesbury, Bucks. He married Gwendoline Blowfield and together they had 3 children - 2 still living and Jean Diana E Cooper.

No sources, however. They have Harry P dying Oct 1973 in Butlers Cross, near Aylesbury. There are 2 death records attached - one in Cheshire and one in 1971.

Obviously not 100% accurate.

They are my grandparents. At least I now know that his middle name was Percy , that might help a bit. Thankyou

Pam - if there is no age on Malcolm/Roy's marriage certificate does it have a line through that column or have they written "full age"? What does it say for his father's occupation?

What does it say for his marital status - had he been married before? If he's as old as you believe then it's quite likely that the marriage to Linda wasn't his first.

Just a thought - do you have the actual certificate, or are you going by the register index?

Pamela Report 18 Mar 2012 18:10

Sorry I think I have confused you a bit. I only have the marrage entry for them not a full cert.. It is very interesting that you give the other info on his death because he did die in Butlers Cross . I will look more into that thankyou.

Pamela - you are going to get into a muddle if you just go by the register entries, you use the information from them to order copies of the actual certificates.

I strongly suspect that the 1943 birth that Shirley found is the right one.

Never rely on family anecdotes about ages.

so if Henry was born c1899 he would have been very young to have had a son born c1916.

Its unusual for no age to shown on a marriage cert for the 1960,s

AHH you wont find any ages in the indexes you have to buy the cert fro the details.

It will show his age and fathers name . I strongly suspect the marriage to Linda is the 1943 Malcolm

Henry and Gwendoline had three children

Mum Jean 1928 Graham H D in 1936, and Malcolm W R in 1943

So Malcolm may have been known as ROY but wasnt younger than your mum

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 18 Mar 2012 18:37

I'm wondering if it was mum who was actually quite a bit older than her brother, not the other way round? .........
