Gibsons was abt 35 km WNW of Vancouver by ferry (back then).
Now, one travels 19km to the mouth of Howe Sound, then catches the ferry for a 40 min, 18km ride to Langdale across the sound, and from there it's 2 km to Gibsons.

Looks like you made a minor typo in date in your initial post
11431-75 Thomas Stephen ROOKE, full age, chemist, England, Toronto, s/o Alexander & Frances, married Sarah CARTER, full age, England, Toronto, d/o Richard & Sarah, witn: Henry WHITE of Port Hope and Grace ROOKE & J. J. THOMPSON, both of Toronto, 23 Aug 1875

317 W Hastings is probably in the 1st block on the right in ca 1920 pic:

Shoal Bay is not a unique name - here it probably refers to a bay near Oak Bay in suburban Victoria.

I wonder whether this might be Sarah in the 1851 English census? The age matches the 1915 death record exactly (if that age was correct, her age was consistently understated in censuses while she was married).

Name: Sarah Carter
Age: 12
Estimated birth year: abt 1839
Relation: Daughter
Father's name: Richard Carter
Mother's name: Sarah Carter
Where born: Penzance, Cornwall, England

Civil Parish: Madron
County/Island: Cornwall

Richard Carter 56 - gardener, born Paul
Sarah Carter 53 - born Buryan
Emma Carter 21
Susan Carter 15
Sarah Carter 12
Charity Richards 74 - Ancestry says she is daughter-in-law, sigh. I'll go for mother-in-law.

And this is the household in 1841 in Madron:

Rich Carter 45
Sally Carter 40
Edwin Carter 15
Emma Carter 11
Susan Carter 5
Sarah Carter 2
Charity Richards 65

Births Dec 1838
CARTER Sarah Penzance 9 211

Hello MGNV,
Thanks for alerting me to my error. Info was given to me on their marriage by a person. I didn't find it myself.
Patricia.

Hi All,
Could someone please help me find Grace Rooke that was a witness to Thomas Rooke's marriage. Reference to her is in my posting.
Thanks. Any info would be great. Thanks.
