Michael, you do need to try using FreeBMD. The link has been posted several times here.

There are a couple of ways of getting there. This link takes you directly to the search form:

So the two deaths we've come up with are the ones you'll verify?

patchem posted:

George A Green
Death Registration Month/Year: 1923
Age at death (estimated): 74
Registration district: Pancras
Inferred County: London
Volume: 1b
Page: 14

and I posted:

Name: Louisa Green
Estimated birth year: abt 1851
Year of Registration: 1909
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Age at Death: 58
District: Brentford
County: Middlesex
Volume: 3a

Hi j Janey
, I know he was alive and living in Camden in1917 as his son who was with the Canadian Army was on convalescent leave and gave his fathers address where was staying for a while. I have copies to verify this from the canadian army records. The birth details you gave for Shoreditch 1848 are correct. Thank you all very much.

Michael

Michael Report 13 Dec 2010 14:11

yes

JaneyCanuck Report 12 Dec 2010 23:58

And it works out to a birth year of about 1849, which would work if he died before his birthday in the year (or the informant wasn't quite sure of his year of birth).

And Michael did say that the name on the child's birth certificate was George Arthur Green. (I'd forgotten that, and thought he'd picked the George Arthur randomly.)

Checked the image, and that 1923 death was in the apr-may-jun quarter of 1923.

If this is George's birth:

Births Dec 1848
GREEN George Arthur Shoreditch 2 _93

It works out perfectly too -- George was not yet 75 in early 1923.

patchem Report 12 Dec 2010 23:48

This is what I suggested at the start:

George A Green
Death Registration Month/Year: 1923
Age at death (estimated): 74
Registration district: Pancras
Inferred County: London
Volume: 1b
Page: 14

Which is George A Green, and Pancras.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 12 Dec 2010 22:17

In 1901, the family is in Brentford registration district.

This could be Louisa's death:

Name: Louisa Green
Estimated birth year: abt 1851
Year of Registration: 1909
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Age at Death: 58
District: Brentford
County: Middlesex
Volume: 3a
Page: 98

Age 58 matches with a birth in Jun quarter 1851.

You say that you know that George was living in Camden in 1917.

Can you say where that information came from?

(That would be either St Pancras or Hampstead registration district.)

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 12 Dec 2010 22:03

That's the entire point, Michael.

You stated that that was your person's death.

Mike and Chris posted the actual details of that death, which were:

age 42, address given as 201 Peabody Buildings, Islington

-- so it is not the death of your person.

What you said:

GEORGE ARTHUR GREEN WHO WAS BURIED 20-1-1927 AT ISLINGTON LONDON. AGED APP 80

was not correct. It simply doesn't help to do that.

This is the death in question:

Name: George A Green
Death Registration Month/Year: 1927
>> Age at death (estimated): 42
Registration district: Islington
Inferred County: Greater London
Volume: 1b
Page: 452

Not your person.

You also said:

LOUISA GREEN BURIED 18-4-1914 ALSO AT ISLINGTON .AGED APP 62

but this is the actual record:

Name: Louisa Green
Estimated birth year: abt 1914
Year of Registration: 1914
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
>> Age at Death: 0
District: Islington
County: Greater London, London, Middlesex
Volume: 1b
Page: 164

Not your person.

That info (registration details for events, in general) is available at FreeBMD -- which is free. ;)

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

So to clarify, your person was *not* George Arthur Green, he was George Green.

Michael

Michael Report 12 Dec 2010 20:29

I have his birth cert dated1848 , hence if this was him he would have been app 80 when he died.

Michael

Michael Report 12 Dec 2010 19:51

As i have his birth cert dated 1848 , if this was his burial he would have been approx 80 years.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 10 Dec 2010 19:14

Apparently not, Michael -- you told us that that individual died at age 80, and you seem to have made that bit up. And that just doesn't help.

Michael

Michael Report 10 Dec 2010 17:39

Chris was correct , i got the info from deceased online.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 10 Dec 2010 15:52

Aargh.

I try to remember to say: where did you get your info? ......

What we present isn't gospel, as Mike says -- and I just wish that people requesting help with searches wouldn't present guesswork as gospel either.

Chris Ho :)

Chris Ho :) Report 10 Dec 2010 08:46

I'm not sure here, but I think Michael may have got the Burial Info. from website Deceased Online. If he had bought credits to view, he would have seen the age.

It was the reference Mike posted earlier age 42, address given as 201 Peabody Buildings, Islington.
