Charles C H Dunn

I realised that the area for Charles's birth didn't match the census info but I also remember one of my ancestors being included in the family list but was infact a nephew being brought up by his aunt and uncle as their own.

Michael everything that is offered up for you is not gospel, it's there for you to check out.

Again, Michael -----

It just doesn't help for posters to have info if we don't have it.

You had the censuses, we didn't.

You had the birth info, we didn't.

Mike thought that since no marriage could be found, they might not have been married at all (which is how it's looking), and they might have married after the first children were born, so the first children might have been registered as Dunn.

If youu had said at the outset that you had the children's birth certificates, and given the registration details, no one would have been trying to figure these things out.

It's still possible that if the parents weren't married, Charles, your gr-grfather, might have been registered as Dunn, and that birth that Mike suggested might just be worth investigating.

Thanks for all your help so far. I have both Emily's and Clifford birth certs and on these it has fathers name as George Arthur Green and Mother as Louisa Green ( maiden name Dunn). The census info posted is that which i have already. What was the reason for saying only Clifford being registered as Green. I have not managed to locate a cert for Charles ( my g/father) yet !. 1871

George Green 25 - born Southwark
Louisa Green 19 - born Chelsea
Emily Green 3 Months - born Blackley

Civil Parish: Blackley
County/Island: Lancashire
Registration district: Manchester

possibly though

Births Mar 1871
Green Emily Manchester 8d 399

I don't think Blandford is a good match for Charles C H Green shown in the 1881 as born in Chelsea.

Assuming that Michael has the name Louisa Dunn from some authoritative source (a child's birth certificate?):

Births Jun 1851
Dunn Louisa Chelsea 3 71

Don't see her in the 1861 census.

Ditto for the middle name Arthur for George Green -- source?

The only birth in the right area around the right time:

Births Sep 1848
Green George St Saviour Southwark 4 494

and the only birth for the full name around the right time:

Births Dec 1848
GREEN George Arthur Shoreditch 2 _93

(with no guarantee the birth would have been registered, of course)

Posted by Mike in Michael's duplicate thread (Michael, we do *not* post one thread about someone's marriage, one thread about their death -- did you read the instructions at all before posting?):
