Hi
I am just starting out trying to find family history details for the following family I believe they may have came from Lithuania? to Glasgow in the early 1900's
The name is Zuberickis is on some Scottish records it is also been spelt Zabrickas
What I have so far is Antanas Zuberickis was married? to Patrone Silenskat their son Kazimeras was born 1890 not sure where and he died 1975 Proven, Glasgow, on his death records it gives his father and mothers details as above
I have found that Kazimeras married a Mary Steel in Bridgeton,Glasgow
I have also found it strange that their first four children were give the Zuberickis surname but after 1925 the next four are give the name of Smith? all children were born in Glasgow

about Kazimeras Zabrickas
Name: Kazimeras Zabrickas
Regiment or Corps: Highland Light Infantry
Regimental Number: 52347

So he was in the UK around the WW1 era.

Ian, you say that kazimeras was Antanas' son..... so Antanas would be born C.1865 ?

Ian

Dee is extrapolating from Kazimeras' birth year

If he was born in 1890, then the general assumption, unless anything else is known, is that his father would be aged 20 - 30 at that time

Thus, taking the average as 25, gives us an estimated birth year of 1865

very inaccurate, but unless we can find out anyhting else ......... it'll have to do!

Hi Sylvia
I see what you mean I am so slow lol
I got the birth year 1890 from the death record for Kazimeras
But the possible passenger record for Antanas gives his age as 20 in 1905 so born abt 1885 ? aged 15 when Kazimeras was born ?

Ian, I hope you see this as I know this post was a while ago. I have just returned from Scotland at my Gran’s funeral and on her death certificate her father is called Kazimeras Zuberickis. I always knew my great grandfather was Lithuanian but I never knew his name until Wednesday. He was given the name smith upon arrival to Scotland as was very common in those days for immigrants, many were given the name smith or jones. He had 9 children, my gran - Minnie - was the second eldest - she passed away last Monday at the age of 98. She married George Wales and the had 8 children including my mum Elizabeth. My mum married a man from Northern Ireland and that is where we live today. Tell me how are you linked to Kazimeras my great grandfather? If you are then we are distant relatives! Kazimeras wasn’t a nice man unfortunately but I’d love to know what else you discovered?
