Bit of a coincidence with a name like Stovold.
also the fact that their first child was born 1845

What info on that marriage cert led you to believe it was the wrong couple.?

Is anyone able to look up parish records for a marr in St Marys, Portsea, Hants? Thomas Baker & Lucy Stovold - 22 July 1844. I would like to know who the witnesses were please. I have a print out from IGI but it doesn't give this info. I have also looked on opc, but this period is not transcribed yet. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I'm new to this - sorry if this message appears twice but my first attempt doesn't seem to have worked.
I am trying to find birth & marr of Thomas Baker. He was born 1813-1820 in either Mountsorrel or Syston, Leics (he kept changing his mind on the census). The first record I have of him is 1841 census when he was in Godalming Surrey. In 1851 he was in Elstead, Surrey with "wife" Lucy (Stovold). I have not been able to find their marriage, which would have given me his father's name. I have checked some parish birth records for Mountsorrel (no Bakers at all) & Syston (some Bakers but no Thomas).
Thanks in advance for any help you are able to give.
