Don't get me wrong its always great when you find a new lead and they are indeed realated. I have found 8th cousins through genes who have been heaps of information so thank you to all those who have helped.I

I myself have in the past copied info that wasnt correct and I was ask to remove it which I did. This was when I first started out.

You are right 'brummiejan' but at least they cant copy anymore. Nowadays I always ask questions about 2 or 3 people in my tree and end up with one about the latest link. If they answer ALL questions and I believe WE can help one another, my tree is opened BUT if they dont open theirs to me after 2-3 days, bbbbbooooooooo.ooooooooommmmmmmmmmm, they're gonners!
Good luck Candiasia with your tree hunting and future connections.

You can stop access anytime as Ronald says but if they have copied stuff then as far as I know that's that.

Maybe I've got it all wrong but I was told that having given someone access to your tree, YOU CAN stop access to your tree and you can remove YOUR access to THEIR tree.
I could be wrong, but, try this for size.
1. Go to Messages.
2. Go on to My Contacts.
3. Go down the column "Access to Their Tree" and click on "View". It should change from VIEW to REQUEST. then
4. Go down the column *Access to Your Tree" and click on "Stop".This is what I was advised by GR.
However, I had someone verbally abusing me on a regular basis but after explaining my fears to GR they put some sort of ban in place which stopped him OR ME from conversing with one another, thank goodness. Maybe you should use this should it get totally out of hand.

With me the connection was well established with the first person and she was related to the second one. She is also annoyed with her relative pinching mine and has asked her to explain. The first contact and I remain friends, she is very kind and is quite upset about what happened.

Well, next time I would establish the connection first!

Oh well I will have to live with it. I just wish people would ask how you are connected and give you details so you clafiry.

Thanks again

Unfortunately this is what happens, you tell a contact and then they tell a contact and so on and so on. The only way to prevent it is to not give your tree in the first place but there is always the possibility that they may have someone who will lead you further in your searches.
I have someone who has my great grandmother which she got from another contact but she won't talk to me. I wouldn't even growl if she told me how she fitted in the family.

The thing is as he has the info on his tree so anyone else who has access to his is adding my branch as well.

Not sure you can do this as you allowed access to your tree. You could try contacting Genes but I doubt they will do anything. Maybe it doesn't really matter too much?

Several months ago now I was contacted by a member who thougt we had a connection.

I allowed access to my tree and vice a versa after investigating further we share no connection.

I have asked this person on several occasions to remove my branch. I even expalined how to do it and still my branch is on his tree.
