can't find any birth reg though of any of his siblings in 1911 census

lancashireAnn I think you've cracked it. they must have added his middle name when he was christened.So the death in 1923 is probably right.

if you were looking on freebmd for the marriage that qtr for for 1920 is only 13% completed (unusual as marriages in the 1940's are now being transcribed)

Only Ada has been added so far
