I can confirm that Frank Buckle Born Isle of Wight c1900 was married Sheppey Kent to Winifred Emma Morris and died in Sheppey. My mother Eileen is their niece her mother was Eunice Jessie Clark (nee Morris) Wins younger sister, I have memories of Great Uncle Frank from my childhood. Win and Frank had no children and Win diid not have children from any other relationships. The family are not aware of any children that Frank had froim any other relationship. I can confirm that Frank and Florences mother did die youngish and that his father remarried. Please let me know if you would like further details. My mum tends to be the keeper of family history and will be able to provide further details from her memory of Franks known movements.Just a thought could this Judith possibly be a daughter of Frank and Florences father from his second marriage rather than a daughter of Frank?

As Flick said earlier, your best bet is to order his death cert. to see if Judith is the informant.

As my father grew up in Africa he did not have direct contact with Judith - but corresponded with her when they were both at school - this is why I am having difficulty in locating any information about her

Does your father remember where she was living when he wrote to her?

Have you given any thought to the info.......and suggestions.....posted on here?

My father last had contact with Judith many years ago - he is now 74 and it was while he was still at school! He used to correspond with her - this is why I am having such a difficult time finding out anything about her.

He was an only child and so was she - so there are not many people around who have any knowledge of her that we know of anyway.

I am currently visiting the Isle of Wight and will go to the records office tomorrow in Newport to what they can suggest.

As there are NO births registered for Buckle/Morris to fit with the marriage..........either the woman had been married before.......or Judith was adopted

Thank you for the advice re the certificates I will do that.

As far as my father remembers Judith was her given name not a nickname.

We do not know if she ever married as my father grew up and spent most of his life in Zimbabwe in Africa and lost contact with Judith over the years.

Moira, if you think that is Frank's marriage record then I'd be inclined to send for a copy from GRO - http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

If it is, and Winifred had perhaps been married before then it would show her former and maiden names. That would be necessary to accurately check births.

Was Judith her given name, or a name she was known by?

It would help if you could find out if she ever married.

thank you MarieCeleste - yes I did find that record of a marriage as you detailed but was nt sure how relevant it was to my relatives - as I said I am new to this and still learning the ropes!

No Judith was definitely Franks child

the parents names from the birth certificates I ordered are Ernest William Buckle and Nora Mary Buckle formerly Blunt
and Thomas Jack Buckle and Gladys Winifred Louisa Buckle formerly Scott

However, I'm not seeing a Judith born to that couple. Is it possible that Judith was the child of the wife's previous marriage/relationship?

Just as a matter of interest, what were the parents names on the certificates you got (always handy to know to eliminate them from our enquiries!).

Hello, am still struggling to find any details of Judith Buckle, who is my fathers cousin. Judiths father was Frank Buckle who was born 1899 in Bembridge Isle of Wight. Franks mother was Mary Elizabeth (Watton) 1864 - 1914 and father was Matthew Buckle (1867 - 1946)

I ordered some birth certificates- 2 which I thought could be Judith per the advice above mmn Scott and Blunt but these are not her - the fathers names are incorrect - not Frank

My father remembers Franks wife as being called Win and that Judith was older than him so that would put her dob prior to 1937

I am still new to all this and have provided as much information as I know at the moment - any suggestions would be most appreciated

Do you know when, or if, Judith married? Do you know if she is still alive? This could help identify which of the 2 Judiths is the one you are looking for.

I am new to this genealogy research and had looked for what I could - I could not provide the information as I did not know how to find it - sorry to have troubled you.

As I said in my posting I was looking for information re Judith Buckle - and my post said that Frank was born around 1900 - that much I established from the census - could only find two births that could have been Judith but with no other information I thought this community forum was the correct place to start.
