Now trying to find the names of the parents of Emily Dowling born London circa 1874 and possibly the niece of Alfred Dowling born 1837. I found her name in the 1891 Census

1881 census is FREE.........look for her there, when she should be with parents

If I may offer some advice...........don't jump around from generation to generation,

Start from today....and work back systematically, one step at a time. proving everything as you go, by acquiring documents to back up all your findings.

As far as I can tell, you are actually not even sure that the chap who married Elizabeth Lambert is your ancestor...........or have I misunderstood?

Do you have the marriage cert for Alfred and Isabella?

If so....what are the details on it about Alfred's father.

Albert Dowling born April 1837, who married Isabella Bird, is the furthest back definite ancestor that I know of.
