Unfortunately Carole had deleted her account. There’s no obvious way of contacting her via GR :-(

Welcome to the boards, Gill.

Unfortunately you have replied to an old thread (2011), and Carole won't be looking here for replies now.

You can try contacting her by sending a private message (just click on her name at the top of her post.)
If she has kept her email address updated with GR, they will send her an email to tell her there's a message from you in the system.

She may (or may not) then be able to read it, and reply.

Good luck!

Gill

Hi,
My Dad’s great grand father was Abel Green and his grand mother was Lizette. He had an uncle Ben the brother of his mother , who was Amy.
So maybe I am related to your husband.
Gill

Nevertheless I think you need to buy Benjamin's birth cert to clarify matters !

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 27 Jan 2011 00:08

so she was Mary's child before she married Abel.

I coudn't find a marriage for Lizette, and wondered if that was the case.

Marriages Jun 1879 (>99%)

Green Abel Congleton 8a 341
MELLOR Mary Congleton 8a 341

so she was born Mellor. mother married later

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 26 Jan 2011 23:51

and Lizette must have been married before??

she's on the 1881 census as Lizette Green, but she married Hugh Proctor as Mellor

don't forget, the child of a married woman was considered to be the son of her husband, even if he was dead.

I think the longest interval that I have seen between death of husband and birth of a child with his surname was 10 years!

Lizette's hubby not Benjamin!

1891 census - household transcription

So maybe not son of Lizette ?

KathleenBell

KathleenBell Report 26 Jan 2011 23:43

This is the nearest death I can find:-

Name: Hugh Proctor
Estimated birth year: abt 1867
Year of Registration: 1895
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Age at Death: 28
District: Barnsley
County: Yorkshire - West Riding
Volume: 9c
Page: 138

However this would mean that Hugh was not Benjamin's father. I think you will need Benjamin's birth certificate to see if a father is named on it. He could have been illegitimate.
