I've just looked through the 1841 Census changed the search to Lambeth Brixton still no joy

Some else did the family tree before me and they took the elmstead Essex option but that has so many loop holes

jax

jax Report 4 Feb 2011 11:41

I have looked at that last night, still not seeing him before the marriage even the witnesses on the marriage cert do not look like family although I cannot work out one of the names.
That tree also shows a birth reg in West Ham which is closer than Colchester....but why say Havering if born in the West Ham area?

Sorry I've just seen to other points

Death 1909 Wandsworth Surrey

Yes on the Census it says

Place of Birth 1871,1881 Havering Essex

1891 place of birth Lambeth Gardner

but you may want to take a look at this

Theresa Report 4 Feb 2011 10:53

Ok Sorry folk , forgot how this works, but your all so amazing at this

I have their marriage cert which Ann got right they married in Bow Poplar Middlesex and it says they where living in Bow. Father Carpenter

I have

The 1871, 1881 but nothing before them dates

I also have Carpenter, Farmer, Beer house Man ?????

I have Thomas their sons birth cert, which states
26 Elizabeth Street Brixton which matches Census

Thomas was a Gardner Marriage cert

None of this make sense, it more like a who done it than a family tree

A thought that certainly came to mind ... especially considering the bride's father's occupation ... when making up a father, why not make up a New Testament trade to go with, lol?

jax

jax Report 4 Feb 2011 02:05

The father David could well be made up just for the marriage record. Strangely enough my gt grandmother had a carpenter as a father and he did'nt exist .

chrissiex Report 4 Feb 2011 01:55

Yup, I'd already checked that one out and discarded him because of the occupation ................

I do not think this is the right family fathers occupation in 1851 farmer of 20 acres bit different from a carprnter and Elmstead is not anywhere near Havering

jax

jax Report 4 Feb 2011 01:31

Then again there is this death but as it does not give the age ??

chrissiex

chrissiex Report 4 Feb 2011 01:18

but nothing showing for Romford either

the 1881 Ann of green gables posted shows Havering, I just wondered whether Theresa would tell us what other censuses say since you say you have them Theresa, you having them does us no good, and no point in us looking them up if you have them .......................

jax

jax Report 4 Feb 2011 01:15

I grew up married and had first child in Havering so Romford is the main town for that area

jax

chrissiex

chrissiex Report 4 Feb 2011 01:08

is his place of birth in censuses after he is married consistently Havering?

there's no William Carter that age with Havering given as place of birth in 1851 for instance

jax

jax Report 4 Feb 2011 01:04

Only birth at that time I could see in Havering

Ann has been a great help with William Spouse side of the family but can anyone knock down the brick wall I keep hitting with William Carter.

Just so you don't waste your time I have loads of information after he's marriage.

I'm looking for birth record, parents and census entries for 1941/1951/1961
