I am Trying to find info on Archibald and Catherine and their family.
Their son married Jane Miller in Inverness 23/5/1854, then came to Australia in 1855.
On the ships records states that he was born in Kilmarnock (c 1813) and that in 1855 his father was deceased but mother still living in Kilmarnock!!
Have not been able to find any records on GR censes for 1851.
Living in Australia it is hard to know where to look. Hoping that someone can help, please.
Glenda.

I think you wont find any census records on GR because you need Scottish census.
Do you know when Archibald and Catherine married?

Kilmorack (Scottish Gaelic: Cill Mhòraig) is a small hamlet in Inverness-shire, in the Highlands of Scotland and now in the Highland Council area. It is situated on the north bank of the River Beauly, 3 miles west of Beauly and 15 miles west of the city of Inverness.

Kilmorack power station on the Beauly RiverThe river is part of the Affric-Beauly hydro-electric power scheme, with a dam and power station at Kilmorack.

It is home to the Kilmorack Gallery, founded by Tony Davidson in 1997.

Was it a second marriage for Angus please?

I can't pick him up on the 1841 or 1851 living with his mother. In fact there are very few McInnes in Ayrshire at that time never mind Kilmarnock. Are you sure it is Kilmarnock please? McInnes isn't normally associated particularly with Ayrshire. The fact that he married in Inverness-shire is more in keeping with the surname.

I think we need a wee bit more information Ellen on this one. I am with you though regarding the place name. I think your suggestion is far more likely for that surname and the fact that the marriage was in that area.

Hi all,
I made a reply but the link seemed to break, so please disregard if it comes through twice.
Angus McInnes born Kilmorack c 1813 - taken from ship record and death 1888 certificate,
KILMORACK is name on ship record, writing poor, but easier when you know what to look for.
Marriage to Jane Miller 23/5/1854 at Inverness correct.
Father named Archibald, deceased on ship record 1855 (Nabob) Name written as McInnis, but McInnes on everything else.
Mother Kath still living Kilmorack, Catherine Kennedy, as far as I can find.
Daughter in Aust. named Catherine.
Thank you all for your help. It is much appreciated as I don't know where to turn. Hope this info helps.
Glenda.

If mother Catherine was still alive in 1855, you can search for her death on Scotlandspeople using both her surnames. Just make sure that you select "variants" for both McInnes and Catherine.
With a bit of luck , the informant will be a sibling of Angus. With that it may be possible to identify some of them on the 1841 census and the 1851 census.

Can you confirm please that Anugus was born 1813 and also if it was a second marriage for him please?

Catherine.
To me it seems thst your posts from the censes are spot on, even to the piper bit. He brought bagpipes with him to Australia.
would you be able to look at the 1851 post again on Angus please.to see if a Jane Miller is registered there ( future wife of Angus). According to relatives it was assumed that she went into service but they have no record of that.
Also is the name Tirnadrish the name of a property?
Thanks for all your help.
