Hello Lyulph and welcome to the boards.

It has been a couple of months since this thread was being used and it may be that jdkaz isn't checking it any more.

You can try clicking on their name and sending your message that way. If they still have the same email address, they will be notified.

Meanwhile, if you are looking for other possible relatives, then try putting the names you are researching into the Search Trees box above to see if anyone else on the site has them in their tree. If you find a connection, you can contact the tree owner.

Also, if you would like help with your own research, then why not start a thread of your own? Take a look at the first message on this board for further advice. Regards. Cx.

I think I can add a feww gaps in for you here.

Thomas (the grandfather) was born ca 1838 and died in 1909. He married a Mary Ann Digby on 8 Mar 1860 at St Mary, Kelling.

They had the following children

Thomas (1859-1861)
George Richard (1862- )
Cecilia (1863 - ) [sometimes known a Celia]
Esther Ann (1865- )
Martin (1866- )
John (1867- )
Samuel (1870-1958) m Alice Joanna Steward 19 Sep 1898
Mary Maria (1871- ) [she later dropped the Mary and called herself Maria]
Mary Ann (1872- )
Margaret (1875- )
Richard (1876- )

Edward was born to Celia as you say and married Mary Elizabeth Duffield in 1910. I know of one daughter Gladys (b1913) who married Lawrence Woodhouse in 1936.

FYI
Thomas the grandfather was the son of Martin LUBBOCK and Cecilia COE after whom your Cecilia is named. This family goes back to the 1700's (at least as far as I have been able to trace) in Kelling.

Hi Please could someone find me the 1871 census record for Cecilia Lubbock and let me know her brothers.

The 1881 census shows her brother Thomas age 22 but the info I was given by my gran about the 1871 census (which I havent seen myself yet) shows Thomas as age 4.
I am just wondering if my Gran wrote it down wrong or if the census really showed that.

Many thanks
Karen

I now have Edward Lubbocks marriage certificate and he has named Thomas Lubbock as his father (i am assuming his grandfather). Which raises more questions. Did he believe that his grandfather was his father, did he put him down as he was the man who brought him up and was his father figure, etc etc It does make you wonder.

Just thought I would add my findings to the thread

Hi Karen

Sorry but the baptism of Eddie/Edward makes no mention of a father.

You can search Norfolk records yourself here

http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#w=0&p=waypoint&s=waypointsOnly&c=fs%3A1416598

They are original images so take a bit of trawling through but sometimes the vicar adds a little gem - in the case of one of my 2x gt grandmothers from Wymondham, Norfolk the vicar noted on her baptism in 1837 just a few months after her birth that 'the father has been abroad for the past 4 years'. Turns out that he had been transported for sheep stealing and couldn't actually have been her father anyway.

You're ahead of me - looks like Mary is correct then!

I am definitely going to order both birth and marriage certificates - fingers crossed.

Thx again

Ah that's a good idea - I hadnt thought of that. I believe he married Mary Duffield but I havent got a clue yet where, when etc as its only tonight I have started to think more about him. I was just given that info by a family member, not yet checked.

Do you have the marriage cert. of Edwin?
This usually gives the father's name, if known.
I have someone in my tree that was illegitimate so I thought I would never know who the father was, but when I bought the marriage cert. even though the parents never married, the father's name was actually noted on the cert.
Could be worth a shot?
