Hi Doreen

My pleasure, happy to be able to help.

Seems fairly definite...certainly that Amy's mn was MOORE. Next step would probably be to order the 1882 marriage certificate from the UK.

This will help you get further back on both sides.

Cheers
Cherilyn

Thank you everybody for you assistance and to Marion who has found them in the 1901 Scottish Census which explains the Australian connection. I would still like to hear how they got there and why. The family emigrated to South Africa after living in Scotland, but I don't know when. Her father was James Row Mcdonald, and her mother was Amy ?Rowe ? died 29.8.1946 in England/Scotland. All the children moved to South Africa and died there.
Looking forward to hearing from anyone who can help.
Much appreciated
Doreen

Scotlandspeople: Checked for the years 1897 -1901.

2 births coming up for:

Alice McDonald
1899
County: Dundee City
District: St Andrew (Dundee) (same district as the 1901 census info)

Suspect the two births are one and the same person. ie Alice McDonald.

Doreen Report 12 Feb 2011 23:56

I am trying to find out about my Grandmother Alice McDonald who was born in Dundee Scotland in 1899. She landed up in South Africa with her parents when a small girl, but I am led to believe they went to Australia when she was about 3 years old. They lived in MaDonald road in Durban when in South Africa. Can anybody help me please.
Kind regards
Doreen (granddaughter)
