Im trying to find the parents of Horace Claude Marshall born in Romford 1914. His mother maiden name was Buck. Horace married Margaret Eleanor Barnett and they had a son called David Marshall . Thank you Angie

I wouldn't jump to conclusions, Angela. I only posted that as a possible. I think, as Lindsey says, you need to buy Horace's birth certificate to get his father's name. Nothing worse than following the wrong family.

Do you know whether Horace had any other older brothers and sisters? If so, what were their names and when were they born?

Your names make me giggle but you do a good job!! Im resaerching for my son in law who only knows his grandparents names (Horace and Margaret. I found the name Buck on the freeband site so now Ive got her first name is it not possible to trace back on the census?

Is son-in-law sure that Horace's wife was Margaret? There's this marriage:

Buck maybe her maiden name, but she may have been married before so she would not have married as Buck

As MadBull says you need to make sure that you are researching the right family. Your best bet is to get a copy of Horace & Margarets marriage cert that will confirm Horace's father's name and occupation. If you are sure that you have the right birth a copy of his birth cert will give you mother's and father's name.

There's also this Marshall with mother's maiden name Buck but it's in Preston:

Just found a marriage of Elizabeth Buck to Frederick Marshall 1909 so its possible that these are the parents. Found Elizabeth on freeband birth 1889 in Uxbridge . Ill get back to my son in law with the name of Frances Barnett he could have given me the wrong name . Cheers Angie

Uxbridge to Romford not near each other then Horace married near Canterbury was he in the Army or something?

Just contacted my son.in.law his father David was born in 1946 in Basildon. His grandparents were Margaret and Horace Claude Marshall .

But I can't see a marriage of Horace Marshall and Margaret.
And that's not David's birth that I found in 1941, Uxbridge?

I Know I cant its tricky something is wrong .

There's a birth of a David 1946 in Ilford. Mother;s maiden name is Barrett not Barnett'

Is it wise to post Davids birth could he not still be living? unless we know otherwise
