For those of you who very kindly helped out with my queries and for those of you have or may have a family connection - here's an update to the King / Glass family line:

George Henry King (1842-1902) married Emma Jane Glass (1853) on 06 November 1870 in South Stoneham, Hampshire - their children are:
Fanny Emma (1872-1872)
Amy Agnes (1874)
George Thomas (1875)
Katherine Sarah (1876)
Marian (1877)
Charles Alfred (1879)
Emma Louise (1880)
Celia Clara (1881)
Albert William (1884)
Susan Gertrude (1885-1949) my Great Grandmother)
Lilian Ethel (1887)
Henry Donald (1889)
Frank Leslie (1891-1975)

I now need to work on:

Parents of George King = Charles James King (c.1815) and Sarah Lingwood (c.1817)

and

Parents of Emma Jane Glass = James Glass (c.1833) and Emma ? (c.1833)

Once again, many thanks for your help previously very very much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Michelle

Thanks Patchem ... drove myself to distraction yesterday going round in circles.

Fresh pair of eyes and a good cup of tea today should get me back on the right track :-)

They do not necessarily call themselves different names, it can just be difficult to decipher the writing. Also, spelling can be hit and miss.

King / Gling / Ring

Struggling to clarify all the above information - either I have a couple of families mixed up here ... or ... they keep calling themselves different names !!

Thanks for all the information received so far.

I think I'm going to have to write all this down and unravel and understand what is here before I start to explore further

Again ... many thanks for your expertise

Lol Dea :-))
Silly me!, I'll have a look when I get back from Mum's later :-)

Chris :)

Now checked, no sign of Emma Jane burial on above website.

Chris,

Maybe that is because she was EMMA Jane (not Ellen Jane)?

(sorry GB, I missed that one) :-)

Wondering where Thomas Hedley or Headley was on previous census...

Deaths Mar 1902 (>99%)

Can tell you that the Burial for George is on Deceased Online website, (pay to view, they cover Islington and St. Pancras) he died in University College Hospital, and was buried 27th Jan. Islington Cemetery.

Can't see an entry for Ellen Jane though...

I can't see a baptism for Amy on London images...first one is George Thomas 1875.

patchem

patchem Report 6 Mar 2011 09:21

As George is born about 1842, possibility that he has been previously married.
If 41 years in 1911 is incorrect, and marriage is really just before Amy's birth in about 1873, then in 1871 census he can be with a different wife.

Chris Ho :) Report 6 Mar 2011 09:18

No advance on the London images for a marriage, been looking through...only the two posted earlier.

You need that Birth cert. Michelle :-)

Patchem

The address 22 Andover Road is tieing in - Marian is a new name I haven't come across before.

Also GlitterBaby identified an Emma Celia King as being baptised in 1882 - I thought for one (crazy) moment that they were one and the same person - but I don't know - on 1891 Emma is listed and not Celia and on 1901 Celia is listed and Emma isn't ????

oooo think my head may explode :-D

Dear Patchem

Apologies ... my dodgy typing :-D ... Celica - should read Celia b1883 - I think the year is there or there abouts giving a year or two as she had one sister Emma born in 1881 and another sister Susan born in 1885
