Perhaps her new husband didn.t want to take the child as his own, or she was settled with granny. we might not find that answer,
It does sound very odd that Jabez changed his name and sailed off, joined his sister and never remarried. lots of unanswered questions.

I sent a message to the lady who has Louisa on her tree,.no wonder , she said, that she couldn,t find Louisa under Crosland as her single name ! so that,s 2 mysteries less !!

And Jabex Crossland and Ellen Blackner at Colwick Church on 10 Sept 1850.
