Hello all. I am in my local library and thought I'd just use the PC for ancestry, (as it's free!). |

Curious.....On the 1901 census there is a Mary McQuarrie, aged 27, a servant/domestic in Portsmouth, born in Wick in Scotland and after rummaging through the family bits and pieces I have here, some of my Dads scribbles have Wick on them. Sadly looking again on the SP site, still no Mary! She is proving to be very elusive! This gives me even more incentive just to find her!! |

Her death certainly adds the confirmation of her age - based on her husband's death in the same reg district |

The trouble with searching on Scotlandspeople is, they only transcribe the name as is has been spelled on the original certificate. Unless you can hit on the exact spelling ..... |

Thanks Helen...in 'just in case' file. Very slight variation on spelling of McQuarrie. |

You might want to add this to the Just in Case file for the family in 1911 - I can't see their Mary in 1911 |

There are 4 matches to Mary's name in the Scotlandspeople site between the years 1876 to 1878. I haven't any credits so can't go further for you. Good luck |

I can't see her in the census prior to 1911 so this would be a good way forward |

You need to order through Scotlands People and you may be able to view it online. It is cheaper than the GRO which only has records for England and Wales |
