Hi Kath,

With the help of a contact on this site, John Thank you John, who found a marriage of Lydia Fowkes at Manchester Cathedral on 14 Feb 1852 to John Adderton. They are on the 1861 and 1871 census. John says that Lydia's father is down as John Fowkes a Lace maker.

John Fowkes married Lydia Farrands at St John's Beeston on 8 Feb 1825 so they could be your lydia's parents.

As Lydia married in a Cathedral I wonder if she was baptized as a non-conformist so will check those records next time I'm in the archives.

I also found a possable death for Lydia Adderton (Fewkes) Dec Qtr 1875 Manchester aged 45yrs.

A possable child for John & Lydia Adderton is:
Baptism: 11 Nov 1860 Sacred Trinity, Salford, Lancashire, England
Thomas John Adderton - [Child] of John Adderton & Lydia
Born: 11 Nov 1859
Abode: 45 Greengate
Occupation: Baker
Baptised by: A.N. Pitcher
Register: Baptisms 1813 - 1864, Page 154, Entry 1228
Source: LDS Film 2356038

I'll pm this to you is case you dont check on here.

Hi Lorraine,

Sorry to have taken so long to get back to you.
Sorry that marriage is not on my disc's.

As for child payments in court records I've not really look at them only bastardly bonds which just gives fathers names and sometimes how much they had to pay also sometimes dates of birth of child depends on what dates you are looking for so if you give me details I can see what I can find for you.

OK Lorraine,

Think that if there was anything for those dates that we wouldn't be able to access them as they may be closed for 75yrs or 100yrs.

Hi Kath,

could not find Dorothy Orme born in Nottinghamshire but if she is the one in Eastwood on 1881 census she was born Ripley Derbyshire,
found on familysearch site At Ripley Church christening on 8 April 1827 Dorothy daughter of Peter & Sarah Orme.

On my Nottingham disc's found 2 children for her
1. Greasley St Mary's Church on 18 Feb 1850 William son of Dorothy Orm single woman of Moorgreen
2. Eastwood St Mary's Church on 6 June 1852 Joesph son of Dorothy Orme of Eastwood.

Hope this helps let me know if you what more info.

Hi Wendy
Many thanks for looking. This family seemed to move back and forwards from Nottinghamshire to Lincolnshire and then ended up in Yorkshire
On the 1911 Census it stated that they had 14 Children 6 living and 8 died
I can only find 12 children
Thanks again
Barbara
