Thankyou Jax yes that is the death for Leah, you helped me with William Thomas and Donald Snapes deaths earlier today. John Snape and Leah Hewitt were married in 1921. If the death I have for John Snape is correct in 1956 from Lancs BMD he died in Farnworth Bolton, I think Leah must have moved after that to Kettering Northamptonshire to be close to her only living child William Thomas who died in the same place in 1984.

Thanks Jax I did reply to your post on the death of Leah to say yes they were a couple but it doesn't seem to have gone through.

Anyway the details for the death of Leah are correct and her son William Thomas also died in the same place in 1984 so I assume the death you have found for John Snape would more likely be correct than the one I have in 1956 in Farnworth Bolton.

All I have for John Snape is the 1901 Census where he is listed as 3 months old so I'v always assumed he was born in JFM 1901, when he and Leah married she was 21 and he was 20, but if I look at the dates correctly then it fits with the deaths.

We must be posting over each other, actually Genes is giving me a bit of trouble at the moment it seems to be working very slowly for some reason. I don't know at this stage if any of the family moved to Wales, it looks like William Thomas and Leah and John are the only one in the Snape line who stayed in England, some of the Hewitt side may have moved to Wales but I haven't researched that far yet. Whilst looking for your original post and the family with John Snape with wife Mary b Lostock and son John in 1861 I came across the Fletcher family below with the same christian names, birth places as the Snape family. Also John is a railway plate layer as in 1871

I just looked on Ancestry Trees and found an explantion below of why John Snape/Fletcher may have used both names

Jax I have done another search for births for a John Snape the only one I found was for JAS 1900 which would match with the death you found in Kettering Northamptonshire. I'm sure this is my John Snape, thanks once again for your help with this.

Completely agree. I sometimes have to seach all the images to find them. In some years they are listed as Austin and in other years I think the transcriber gave up!
