I dont use GR anyway for records and freebmd is easy to use for births marriages and deaths from 1837 up to about mid 1950s now...they are still updating it

If you want to find cecils parents marriage enter

Surname booth
name Samuel
spouse first name sarah

and you will see there is a marriage in Barnsley in 1896

same for births just put in the two surnames Booth followed by Lloyd
Or Booth followed by sarahs surname and any more births after 1911 should be shown

Afternoon all
At the risk of a verbal battering i need help.
I have looked on all the sites recomended to me for info on my granparents family.
I have joined sites for free trials thinking i could get what i wanted .
But there seem to be more booths in the Barnsley area than there are in the rest of the world.
I started out at 0800hrs this morning and have now given up.
I know my grandfather was Cecil Booth and he Married Emily Lloyd i have all there details ,I followed Emily all the way to andover Kent but cannot find anything futher back than Cecil, I have seen a photo of either Cecil or his father being presented a winners roset at the great youkshire show by the princess royal(now our queen).
I am going Mad with this please help and be gentle as i know i have asked before.

This is Samuel Booth marriage,,,,

Surname First name(s) District Vol Page

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marriages Jun 1896 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Booth Samuel Barnsley 9c 298
Rushforth Annie Elizabeth Barnsley 9c 298
Whittam Alfred Barnsley 9c 298
>>>>>>>>>>>>WOOD Sarah Ann Barnsley 9c 298

You will need to send for the marriage cert to get both father;s names..then when it arrives you will be able to get further back in your research as all you have to do is put the father's name in www.Freebmd.org/uk for the father's birth.

Did you not follow my instructions on how to find Samuel and sarahs marriage?

I could have posted it myself but thought it was easy enough to find

Ronald Report 11 May 2011 13:44

Jax
I am not as good at this as you.
I find Sam Booths in my sleep they are everywhere.
I have been chasing Sam and Sarah ann Wood but I am not one sure they are the right ancestors, this is my problem.
I did try Freebmd but i do not find it as easy as yourself.
I have had some sucess with another branch of my tree but not the booths.
I have tried all living Family but still no good.
Sorry :S
