Sent information to AmazingGrace on the PM

John Holden was my uncles Grandfather and he enlisted as his father did in WW1 by using this name, my uncles father was William John Holden and married to Margarett .
John as he called himself was my uncle Ronald.

The twins were Joan and John but sadly John died as a baby, these were younger than Ronald as in the last 3 children my granmother had ( she had 9 children two died as small children these are Jessie and John)
The name John has passed though the family)

I will look at the information and follow up as going to Kew today.
Many thanks to all.
Let all know to nite xx :D

pm sent to Susan as per her copy of the same response for above advising her to pay for the file to be digitised by the National Archives and see if the deatils match as there is inconistent information. The one mentioned by Susan is born in 1919 in Wales, whereas it had been thought he was born in 1927.

Nothing else able to do until Susan advises her next action and results.

ok thats it for now

AmazingGrace08 Report 6 May 2011 05:35

Moonbi, you can definately discount the marriage you provided as the full name of that person is Ronald Park Holden not Patrick.

We really need some help from Susan otherwise it is a bit pointless...

AmazingGrace08

AmazingGrace08 Report 6 May 2011 05:27

Hi Moonbi,

I don't think that the marriage you have shown is anyone related to the person we have been chasing rather it more closely relates to the following individual:

Name: Ronald P Holden
Birth Date: 1905
Father's name: George K Holden
Mother's name: Annette P
Birth Place: New South Wales
Registration Year: 1905
Registration Place: Marrickville, New South Wales
Registration Number: 14909

I think we can discount them - what do you think?

moonbi

moonbi Report 6 May 2011 05:12

nsw bdm

there is a Ronald P Holden marriage to Agnes I Craig

record 13964/1933 District Sydney NSW

AmazingGrace08 Report 6 May 2011 03:45

Hi Moonbi,

This is getting really confusing. Susan really needs to explain it out clearly and where she is getting her information from.

There is only the one John then who has a place of birth as England and has a next of kin as Robertina...

Service Record
Name HOLDEN, JOHN WILLIAM FREDERICK
Service Australian Army
Service Number QX9280
Date of Birth 23 Aug 1907
Place of Birth BIRKEN HEAD, ENGLAND
Date of Enlistment 17 Jun 1940
Locality on Enlistment SHERWOOD, QLD
Place of Enlistment KELVIN GROVE, QLD
Next of Kin HOLDEN, ROBERTINA
Date of Discharge 17 Oct 1945
Rank Private
Posting at Discharge 2/25 AUSTRALIAN INFANTRY BATTALION
WW2 Honours and Gallantry None for display
Prisoner of War No
Copyright Commonwealth of Australia 2002.

But I gave her that info before and she has not replied to it so we know for sure that there are:

No Ronald Patrick Holden's that served in WW2 for Australia
Of the four Ronald's shown none are born in England
There are only 5 John's who served for Australia with a place of birth as England

Please Susan can you return and answer any of the questions?

moonbi Report 6 May 2011 02:46

Grace
I think Susan means that this man is RONALD Patrick Holden
and that he used his grandfathers name as an alias to enlist in the army

Ronald seems to be Susan's uncle, ie her father's brother

moonbi

moonbi Report 6 May 2011 02:31

Grace,
I THINK Susan means that this man was Ronald Patrick Holden

and used his grandfathers name of John W Holden to enlist in the army.

Ronald is Susan's father' brother ie her uncle and used the alias.

Hi Susan,

I can't find a war record for a Robert Patrick Holden or even a Robert Holden that matches.....how have you found this bit of info out?

susan

susan Report 5 May 2011 19:58

Hi All, I have found out John Holden who served in the Austrialian army lied about his name to sign up as it was Ronald Patrick Holden, possible age a bit off too as his father would not want him to join up. he took his grandfathers name. :D
Thank you for your help
John was twin to joan.

AmazingGrace08 Report 5 May 2011 00:37

Hi Jax, yep far too young I would say if that's teh right birth record.

Maybe he was a James known as John or something like that...we need Susan to come back and explain:

1: How she knows his name is John
2: How she knows he came to Australia
3: How she knows he served in the Army and not in another force

Susan all this helps us build up a more accurate picture of the person you are looking for, and lets us know what sources you are referring to.

Cheers

Rachelle

I posted the birth of the only John and if he was born in 1927 seems a bit young to have served in the war unless at the very end
