So in fact you know he was deceased by 1936? I might be inclined to get Harriett's death cert to see if it sheds any light.

BrummieJan have taken your advice and got Harriet Podmore Death Cert. her husband John Podmore is not reg as the informant so he eather died before her or just left. There was an inquest held.

Hi Jean.
Have you got an address for Harriet from the death cert? Might be worth checking it out the electoral register 1918 onwards to see if any Podmores there (remember all males over 21 got vote 1919). You need to do this is person though, or someone who works there will have to, for which there will probably be a charge.

Electoral registers are held at the nearest main library for the district. I have no idea re. Wolstanton, Stoke on Trent maybe?
