That rings a bell too Gynn. I was taking to a cousin recently who told me her dad. my mums half bros, birth on the cert wasnt right. he was born in 1904 but grandad & his ist wife missed the 6 week deadline to register the birth ,so to avoid a fine they "adjusted" the birth date details!!! ;-)

I have a friend whose father's birthdate was not that shown on his birth certificate.
Family story from his older siblings was that the birthdate was 'adjusted' to fit in with a rather late registration and to avoid paying a fine.

I have just looked at his baptism and it definately says in the register that he was baptised 28th May and born 13th Mch. The address is as you say Dryden St.

Name: Richard Mainwaring
Birth Date: 13 Mar
[abt 1882]
Baptism Date: 28 May 1882
Parish: Liverpool St Peter
Father's name: James Mainwaring
Mother's name: Margaret Mainwaring

the person who registered the baptism noted the birth as born 13th March!! maybe asked the wrong question when taking the details

Dea Report 23 May 2011 17:16

Well, I have just looked at the actual parish register page for St. Peter's on Ancestry and it certainly does give a clear birth date of 13th March.

Very strange !

Hi Shirley........it can be confusing, i was just looking through the surname and found him. If i didnt have the cert i would have believed that date.

It must of been confusing for you also!

I just feel sorry for people who believe what they are seeing.

Thanks for your advice Sally

Are you certain that you are looking at the BIRTH date on the cert?

Or is 5th May the date when the birth was REGISTERED?

Maybe the family search is a submitted entry . These are trees that have been uploaded to family search and must be treated with caution.
For instance my paternal grandmothers family were Dartnells the eldest son being named as Nathaniel with a second christian name . Someone uploaded a file for the family and got mixed up which Nathaniel was the father, so a grandad is listed as the dad of one of the Nathaniel sons

I have my Grandfathers birth cert, but the date doesn't match what it says on Family Search!

On Family Search it says 13th March 1882
The cert says 5th May 1882
His parents are the same, James & Margaret Mainwaring.
In 1881, before Margaret married, she was Margaret Taylor 50, Dryden St Liverpool. On my Grandfathers birth cert its the same address. He is Richard Mainwaring.
Has anyone got any ideas????

Could someone please lookup WW1 Service Records for my Grandfather!

Kind Regards Sally
