I think patchem has the correct birth as Waddington is very close to West Bradford and Clitheroe and not near the city of Bradford Yorks

On familysearch.org there is a marriage in Waddington between a Edward Clough and Alice Duerden 18 October 1817

If the above is correct, he has a brother called Sylvester, 1839, who should be easy to find in 1841 (he is alive in later censuses)

John Report 27 May 2011 20:07

I'm stuck around my great (3) grandfather Edward, shoemaker, born in the village of West Bradford (near Clitheroe). This straddles the Lancashire/Yorkshire border. He married Ellen Fell in 1850,. I can't find any trace of him, family or siblings in the 1841 census (inc. common variants). Thanks in advance
John
