pm from Jacquie:

"Please can you give me some more details? Of how to find the boys school info. It looks like it could be an answer to why hes not on any of the Census."

Think this is in relation to the census I posted which could possibly be Herbert in young boys home.

Explained I don't have access to any other records.

Does anyone else have any ideas for Jacquie?

Jacquie

Jacquie Report 30 May 2011 20:38

Thanks for the help it certainly looks as though its the right family.Maybe the earlier post about a boys home might be the answer as his mother died when he was 9. I was aways told he was the black sheep of the family.....dont know why ? However there was always a Gervaise mentioned in the dim past and this family tree I have made contact with would make a Gervaise his GG Grandfather. so lots of pointers. I will get the birth certificate and see where it goes from there.
Once again thanks for your help and interest jacquie........

Very strange that he is never listed in the census as living with the father that he lists on his marriage cert. Maybe his birth cert would be one way forward.

Jacquie

Jacquie Report 30 May 2011 19:26

Hi if that Henry James widower on herberts banns was married to Eliza Coop that would prove the line I am chasing. It is posted above showing just some of the children nowhere can I find him listed along side all the others. I believe Henry James 1842 father was also Henry James 1813 married to Eliza Watson. Thank you.

Mary Report 30 May 2011 19:13

1891 peckham
Henry J Bradbury widower upholsterer as on banns for herberts marriage
Emily daughter 1884 same as on 1901 census.

There are a few trees with Henry james bradbury married to eliza mary coop say henry james died Wandsworth 1902.

1901 census says Henry James Bradberry is married.

15/3/1896 Henry James bradberry age 56 widower upholsterer of Packstone Street married Esther Rea age 56 widower dad Joseph Severight.
Dad of Henry James was a solicitor.

If he were 6 months old on the 1881 census he would have been born in 1880 as the 1881 was taken on 3 April.

Thanks Marie its a possibility as they all lived in later life around Kent area and earlier relatives in Ramsgate.. Sorry earlier post mistake..... meant 1881/89 is missing link.
Thanks Jaq

Thank you so much thats great. Thats the line I had been given with the addition of Ethel 1883 and Mabel 1879. I am trying to prove Herbert James came in at 1881 and then I can trace them right back. That seems the missing link the 1181/9 Census.
Thanks you are a star

The 1891 is the only census that will show him, if I have got the correct birth.
If his Father is dead then you cannot join them up.
He could be concealing his true age if young. Too much like guessing until you have the certificate.
