Dinah is still alive in 1881.

It does state that the Messams are lodgers in 1851.

Thamks guys. Dinah was around 60 in the 1851 census so maybe she died before the 1861 census.
After the 1881 census Elizabeth, Emily and Edith were born which makes George and Matilda's total number of children up to 7.
It is interesting how Dinah says she's married. I'm also assuming Rhoda Jaspar is a lodger?

Samantha Report 5 Jun 2011 21:13

Hello,
I've hit a brick wall with finding the mother and father of George Maslin. George Maslin was born around 1843 in Ogbourne, Wiltshire. He married in 1870 to a Matilda Bennett (born around 1845) and had 7 children.
After looking at the 1881 census I have seen a Dinah Maslin living with George and Matilda. Dinah was around 60 years old, born in Preshute and I believe she could be George's mother. However when looking at the 1851 census George was only 8 and was living with a Dranah Maslin who was 30 years old. They also had 2 female lodgers living with them with the surname Messam.
I have tried to find Dinah/Dranah but have had no luck. Can anyone help me? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Samantha Maslin.
