just looked on ancestry, and at least one Public Family Tree has an Alvin Ward Ambler born 6 Aug 1870, dying in South Africa


No further information ...... no date of death, no mention of marriage, wife or children.

Ummm not sure about all of them but Alvin Victor could well be a child and possably Mabel Margaret

I've also been lokking for both Alvin Victor and Mabel margaret, and can't see either of them anywhere other than in the birth registrations!



That passenger list is a good find Jax ................ certainly looks like Alvin Ward!

I reckon Alvin Victor is a distinct possibility of his son. Thanks for the Passenger information going to Sth. Africa, strangely he is single!!

William Edward could also be a child going by the date he left.....but where did they go?? it does not help when they do not give thier names on the passanger lists

Have checked the 1901 census, there is a Mabel Ambler born 1892 Bradford, there are a number of siblings all younger than Mabel, the youngest was 4 years old.  What is interesting is that their father is listed as John 72 years of age, b1829 and a widower!!

Alvins parents William c1842 d1886 & Esther c1838 were both born in Bradford.

Wonder if I am going to have the same trouble as with his sister Henrietta, she left her husband, but took her 2 daughters with her to Australia.
