I can't find any death or census record for an Elijah Mann so this theory is looking more likely.

Shannette

Shannette Report 18 Jul 2011 12:03

I have Elijah's marriage cert and on it his father is named as Charles Palfreyman but having said that maybe he couldn't write .

Or maybe his parents weren't married? The next clue I have about Elijah is that he moved to Cheshire and attended both Stockport and Macclesfield sunday schools.

It was just a thought that he may have used his mother's maiden name as a middle name therefore being Elijah Palphrey Mann. You never know.

Thanks for replies. Yes Astra that's a weird coincidence isn't it.I wonder if it could be mine? I've seen so many spellings over the years of this name. This would explain why I can't find out anything about Charles.

Shanette.
Do you mean he was born in the town of Warwick or the county of Warwickshire?
It´s quite a common name in Birmingham.

I'm not sure what I did wrong but I'll repeat the message
I have an Elijah Palfreyman born 1799 in Warwick whose father I know from his marriage to be Charles a brickmaker. I can't find Charles on any census and therefore wonder if anyone with access to the parish records could find out who Elijah's mother was.Thanks.
