Can anyone help look up Stuart or Stewart Ogilvie and wife Iris Mary in the rolls from 1938-1941. Stewart was killed in the war and if you have access to this I would like to know the name of his son living with wife after his death in June 1941.

Thanks

Nothing showing on NSW Electoral register I'm afraid but if this is his death then it may resolve the spelling of his forename:

Name: OGILVIE, STUART
Initials: S
Nationality: Australian
Rank: Gunner
Regiment/Service: Royal Australian Artillery
Unit Text: A.I.F. 2/12 Fd. Regt.
Age: 26
Date of Death: 29/06/1941
Service No: VX17601
Additional information: Son of Walter Duncan and Olive Louise Chester Ogilvie, of Booborowie, South Australia.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: 4. E. 12.
Cemetery: TOBRUK WAR CEMETERY

Presumably because his age was only 26 when he died his son would only be very young and the son would not be likely to appear on an electoral roll for several years after his fathers death.

Yes this is his death. Had a look at newspapers at Trove and there is information there about a son 2 years old. Found at NSW BDM his marriage in 1938 to Iris Mary Mott. Because births stop at 1910 I cannot find either of there births or the birth of the son.

Found at NSW BDM - death at Broken Hill NSW of Barbara Dawn Ogilvie in 1942. No father named mother Iris Mary - looks like his wife. Newspapers say he had a 2 year old son at the time of his death. Either they had a son and a daughter or ???

Thanks very much for the birth registration. Newspapers say Walter and Olive lost two sons in the WW2 - how terrible.

Much appreciated. My main aim is trying to find the parents of his wife Iris Mary Mott. My elderly father has kept information on his cousin Stuart Ogilvie and I am trying to find what line of my Mott family he belongs to ? Not an easy task I am finding. I have found their marriage at NSW BDM in 1938 Broken Hill but cannot find her birth as she would have been born after the 1910 date unfortunately.

Checked South Australia for a birth for Iris Mary MOTT....but nothing registered for this state.

Also checked Victoria up to 1921....but found nothing.

QLD up to 1914.....nothing

As you say....can only check up to 1910 for NSW

She would have been born in NSW I think but as they married in 1938 she could have been a long younger than him. My father said they loved with them prior to him enlisting and they were living in Broken Hill at the time I think ?

Cant see her on Aussie electorol rolls up to 1954..as Iris Mary OGILVIE

Of course, she may have re-married..?

Pending on wether she went under the name of Iris or Mary ( her second name )there is a death of a Mary OGILVIE in 1980 in NSW...but its a stab in the dark.

18558/1980 OGILVIE MARY Fath:THOMAS RAMSAY Moth:CATHERINE

Will keep checking for you, and if i find something more concrete i will add it here.

In the meantime, hopefully someone else may read your thread, and offer help.

Much appreciated. I think she would have been so young she would have remarried. I tried marriages in NSW but no luck. Your assistance is most appreciated.

The death is not her as we don't have a Thomas and Caatherine.
