My auntie is now searching the attic to find old address books to see if Esther's surname is written down anywhere.....when she was ill her sister Amelia ( May) cared for her so the husband must have died or gone off?

William C Caswell born 4/4/1900 died in kent 1978,this is who married amelia I think.

Esther /Hester in 1911 with mum Rose Maria and May (Amelia) in 1911 is the same one I would say especially as they also have a brother george with the same age.
Also the time rose maria has been married also fits with the marriage for Ralph and Rose Maria.

Ancestry shows a possible address in Birchington for Amelia in 1980 edition of phone books.

If she cared for her sister, one must presume ( not always a wise thing ! ) that she was not too advanced in years herself, so maybe Esther died fairly soon after that ?

In 1970s a W.E.C.CASWELL is listed at that address.

Ok update,Rose Maria Deane did not marry mr Ayling as she was cared for by her daughter Ameliai a for many years, she dis have other children who died, confirming records of Violet and census of 8 born 5 died.

Still stuck re finding out the surname for Esther after she 'married' or is she Esther who died in 1954 still, having her maiden name?

We have now found a photo of Esther's wedding will all e family in attendance but still no clue as to her surname, however Aunt Stella is in the photo and looks to be about 5 years old so that will date it.

It will hopefully confirm Esther's age. If your Aunt was sure she was 37 when she married then that can't be her on the census found?

I finally found out who Esther married it was a fun mystery to solve but a photo was needed in the end to solve it. We found a photo of her wedding and judging the age of the small bridesmaid who is my aunt we worked out the date of the wedding. That then led to a place then we found the spouse name which was John White married 1950 ilford. Strangely though the site didn't throw this up when we just searched Esthers name.
