Surname: WHITEHEAD

Have you got her marriage cert, just in case she has named her father?

Patchem, you are obviously thinking the same as me. 'Born as' means 'registered as' to me! I do not think she was registered twice.

Yes, thats the joseph, I think i may have to buy the birth certificate :(

We persume that Bertha was born out of wed lock.

Sarah Jane was born in Stretham

Do you mean 1912 for the birth of Joseph Granger, as mother's maiden name does not show on free bmd in 1910?
Are you going to gamble that Sarah is the mother again and buy the certificate?
Sorry, do not understand how she was born as Bertha Edna Whitehead if she was registered as Granger.
When was Sarah Jane born?
Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I can only see two adresses:

Bertha: Church Street, march
Sarah J: whitehard, broad street, March.

We persume that Sarah wasnt married, but gave bertha the whitehead named then later added granger, really confusing :-S

This must be the Joseph you mean:

Births Dec 1912
Granger Joseph H Granger N.Witchford 3b 890

Quite a puzzler this one. Is there an address on the birth cert? Not quite sure how she was born Whitehead but registered Granger?

Hello,

I'm trying to find my Great grandmothers parents, it is a little difficult as little is known about them and nothing was ever mentioned, other than she was given away at some point, her mother was a Landlady in March, Cambs and she may have a brother named joe/joseph.

My G-Grandmother was born 1908, Bertha Edna Whitehead, but was registared Bertha Edna W. Granger, alo married under this name but commonly known as Edna granger.

I have her birth certificate, she was born in March Cambs, her father is abscent but her mothers name is mentioned, ive checked the 1891 census and her mother Sarah Jane appears with her family (if it is my ansestors). I beleive so there is a relative living in the house named bertha, which was common to name children after siblings.

Ive checked the recent 1911 census for Bertha, with the various combanation of names, and confirmed she was living as a boarder with another family, still in March, Cambs.

As her father is unknown other than the last name, ive checked the census for a Whitehead living in the camberudge area in all census's and the only name that could be related to it all is David Whitehead, 1885, he was living as a boarder with others with a family in March, Cambs.

in the BMD records i found a joseph Granger born c1910, with a mothers maiden name as Granger.

this is what i have found out so far, but does anyone else know of how else i can track down her father, of how her mother lived in later life, i.e if she did marry or have any more children? or if there are records that confirm my G.grandmas fathers.

Thanks

Thomas
