I wondered if he had changed his name...Hoggard seemed the most obvious choice and there was a John Edward Hoggard (labourer) in a lodging house in Hull in 1911. The form states he was born in Hull in 1882...but there was no John Hoggard registered between 1881-1883 in all Yorkshire and nor can I find him on any census prior to 1911.....

There was a John Edward registered in 1879, so the one in 1911 might be him....darn!
