Oh wow! Thank you all so much! Much appreciated. I will work my way through this info and see where everyone fits in.
Hi Jax, I decided to continue on a new thread as not to confuse people between the individuals with the same name I had confused.
Thank you again. Much appreciated and I shall be busy working this all out!

For 1916, go to the LAC link in my URL above and search for district=Weyburn, subd#=11. You want page 2 of 20 1916 addy is Lomond T6 R15 W2M
http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/post-offices/001001-100.01-e.php Weyburn Sec.30, Twp.8, R.14, W2 Colgate Sec.24, Twp.5, R.15, W2 Radville Sec.36, Twp.6, R.18, W2
A prairie township is 6 m x 6 m. Its northing is given by the Twp #, and its westing is given by the Range# (except E of 1st meridian (i.e., E Manitoba), when range# is an easting) The township was divided into 36 sections - a quarter-section (160 acres) was the normal size of a homestead grant. If one paid a $10 filing fee, lived on the land for 3 y, built a dwelling and got 30 acres under crop, one would get letters patent (i.e., title) to the land.

A search on AG gets Lynne's hit:
1901 Census of Canada Page Information District: ON PERTH (North/Nord) (#104) Subdistrict: Elma B-6 Page 11 48 110 Broughton Charles M Head M Apr 21 1830 70 49 110 Broughton Lucy F Wife M Dec 23 1840 60 50 110 Broughton Charles M Son S Jul 26 1874 26 ------------------ 1 110 Broughton Louise F Daughter S Nov 2 1883 17 2 110 Aelnan Wm M ? S Jun 15 1840 60
Incidentally, once you've found Charles & Lucy in the usual way, you might wonder if the h/h continues on next page (it does) So back up to start of search, click on Ontario, then Perth North, then Elma B-6, then view page 12. At the foot of the page with all the "view" links, there's a link to Sched 2 look up at LAC. Click on pdf - you want page 3 which has the entry for Page 11 Line 48 It gives the farm addy as Lot 1/2 16 & 17 Concession 16(=XVI) http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/1901/z/z002/z000094270.pdf
Now go to http://digital.library.mcgill.ca/countyatlas/SearchMapframes.php You want Perth Co, then Elma Twp. You can then "Click here to generate index of people"
Full record for Broughton, C. Last Name Broughton First Name C. Post Office Monkton Township Elma County Perth Atlas Date 1879 Concession and Lot Lot size XVI, 17 50 XVI, 16 100
Full record for Broughton, E. Last Name Broughton First Name E. Post Office Monkton Township Elma County Perth Atlas Date 1879 Concession and Lot Lot size XVI, 16 50
or you can use "To view a larger version of this map click here" This shows exactly where C & E Broughton had farms. Note the compass rose at top of map shows top edge is NE edge of Twp. Also note the standard 100 ac lot is 20 chains x 50 chns (80 chns =1 mile). Conc 18 (where Monkton sits) is not a standard size looks like just 37.5 chns wide.
Go to http://maps.google.com/ and look up Monkton, Ontario, Canada Get the satellite view with labels. Conc 18 lies between County Rd 55 and 57 Line Rd. Monkton is in the S part of Conc 18. Go NE on 164 Rd. On the right you can clearly see the division between Conc 17 & 16. As you go thru Conc 16, there's 2 farmhouses on your right. Presunably, these are C's & E's farms, although the original structures are probably replaced by now. 60 Line Rd is the boundary between Concs 15 & 16. NB Monkton is abt 50km WNW of Waterloo.
