Lots of Germans who came to England at that time changed their names to sound something more "English".....but that would certainly be a reason to do so.

Edit: Anglicised!!! :-D

He may not have known his middle names and just thought it was the same as his fathers?

I know my gran did'nt know hers until she was about 50 and needed a passport so applied for her birth cert, to find she was'nt who she thought

Well,I'm convinced. His father seems to have anglicised Rudolph to Ralph. So Frank Ralph Hubert Karrer seems good to me.

It makes you wonder who the informant on the death certs was.

Since Frank was the only surviving son............

It's a shame that there doesn't seem to be a will listed for either of them.

Hi

Someone just had the idea that could the Farrer family have been living in Malta before Frank went into the army?

Be really grateful if someone could look this up for me

Thanks
Chris

jax

jax Report 13 Oct 2011 12:51

On the 1911 he was based in Malta in the army but his parents were in London

Your post is there

Who suggested they were living in Malta?

Do you not think what has been found is correct?

Hi Chris

What is it about the information we have found for you........that makes you think it is incorrect?

Chris from Kent Report 13 Oct 2011 13:45

So sorry I had not seen this 2nd page - do feel stupid.
Franks grandson suggested Malta but the more I have read your posts the more I feel you could be right. There seems to be no other explanation.
I need to put all the info you have all given me into a tree format so I can physically see this and the changes they made
I will come back and let you know how I get on

Thanks again

No worries Chris.

You are not the only one to miss that there is sometimes more than one page of information.

Let us know how you get on!

Now how can I find out more about Rudolf Karrer born in Germany?

I only have ancestry uk - is it possible to trace German records?

Thanks again
