Not necessarily mistranscibed.............considerable parts of the 1851 for areas in and around Manchester are simply not available.........having at some time suffered severe water damage.

The pieces are listed in the additional info relating to the 1851 census on Ancestry........worth checking out

Nicola'S Report 26 Oct 2011 22:03

I have tried numerous ways to find my ARTHUR LAW in the 1851 census, but so far to no avail.

He was born in 1830/1 in Crumpsall, Manchester. I have him in 1841 and all the others until his death just before the 1901 census.

But I CANNOT FIND HIM in 1851.

I know that he wasn't abroad because we have his ORIGINAL paper passport dated 1859, framed and in pride of place!!

He came from a wealthy Manchester family with strong connections in that area.

PLEASE can sks have a good root around this evening and see if you can find him? I think it must be a mis-transcribe, perhaps?

Many thanks in advance.

Nicola
