June registration would be fine for an April birth...so it looks like him

He did not have a middle name the E is for East

That's odd, Kath, that there appears to be no other marriage listed for Henry..!
Unless he married in another part of England??

Thank you Jax......I'll have to rethink my April 4, 1842.....!
I take it East Ashford would be the District where any Kennington births would have to be registered?

It would be interesting to know if his second name is Eric. Eric has been a favourite Cox name in our family, for a long time.

Thanks for your help!

Kind Regards,

The thing is that I can't find another marriage for him - apart from the marriage to Harriet Conley.

The census often gives a person's birth year as a year later than they were actually born - it depends on when their birthday fell. I'm sure it's him as he is a lodger with Harriett Conley in the 1871 census.

Oh, you're quick, Kathleen! My reply was to your first post.

Henry of West St Faversham MUST be him! As I have stated...he married a Harriet Conley!

That's interesting... a widower! At only 29 years old. How sad!

Thanks so much for your amazing help!

Kind Regards,

jax

Thanks for your reply Kathleen...unfortunately, I don't think it's him.
My Henry was born in 1842.....unless when filling out the census forms the parent accidently put the wrong date down...?

I don't have any information at all on other family members...so I can't be sure...

But thank you for your trouble, it may turn out to be my Henry's family! :-)

This is Henry in the 1871 census (taken on 2nd April 1871) which has him as a widower:-

COX, Henry Lodger M 29 1842 Kent

Address:
West Street, Faversham

Piece: 979
Folio: 48
Page: 10
Registration District: Faversham

The image has him living with a family called Conley (Harriett is in the household as unmarried) and gives his birthplace as Kennington and his marital status as widower.

Looking for ancestral information on Henry and Harriet Cox of Kent.

Henry Cox was born April 4, 1842 in Kennington, Kent. He married Harriet Conley, ( born January 5, 1847 in Brabourne), in Brabourne, East Ashford on May 28, 1871.

They immigrated to Tasmania, Australia arriving in 1883.

( Or, if Henry and Harriet are in your Family Tree, I'd be happy to correspond! )

Thanks in anticipation to anyone out there, who can throw some light on Henry and Harriet's past.... ( I've reached the proverbial 'brick wall' ).
