The death that I found is for an October birth which would be registered in Oct/Dec 1908.
The birth that choccy found was for Jul/Sep 1908.
If you get the 1908 birth certificate it will have the Father's name on it, which could eliminate it or look far more promising.
With that exact birth date we can then look for deaths in any surname.
(From her age at marry she could be born 1907/1908, if she was telling the truth.)

It is looking that way at the moment unfortunatly, if you are sure that worthing death is not her

PAT

PAT Report 10 Nov 2011 00:29

i suppose it is possible, so that means i probably won't be able to find much more about her

jax

jax Report 10 Nov 2011 00:26

So there is the chance even if she did not remarry she could have taken another mans name

PAT

PAT Report 10 Nov 2011 00:23

jax

she was with her husband up untill at least 1940, they had 2 children and then she left him. She was last known to be in london somewhere. Her husband died in willesden between 1970/5 i think

Madmeg

Madmeg Report 10 Nov 2011 00:14

Why do think the death date is wrong?

Margaret

jax

jax Report 10 Nov 2011 00:12

What do you know about her? did she stay with her husband or did he die and she remarry where was she last known to be living and when?

PAT

PAT Report 10 Nov 2011 00:10

On the marriage cert her name is Winifred Emma Read, married in 1935 aged 27yrs, so from that her dob would be 1908.

Winifred married again?
I don't know if her father was still alive when she married.
I am her granddaughter.
Thankyou so much for your help

patchem Report 9 Nov 2011 23:04

If her name is Winifred Emma, and she is definitely born in 1908, you need to buy Choccy's birth certificate.
It does not correspond exactly with my proposed death, which is why you need to find the birth, as I am more likely to be wrong. (Completely wrong death, Winifred married again, informant did not know correct date of birth.........)
What connection are you to her?
George could be on the 1911 census, just we have not found him. He does not have to be described as an engineer in 1911. Was he still alive when his daughter married?
Thanks

PAT Report 9 Nov 2011 21:58

patchem,

does what you have sent me correspond with what choccy has sent ?

I wonder why george isnt in the 1911 census, how do i know which birth cert to get.
Thanx for your help, i have been a member of this site for a while and tried once before but gave up. It so is not as easy as i thought it would be.

If she was born in Steyning, and returned to the area, there is this death, but wrong birth quarter:
Winifred O'connor
Birth Date: 12 Oct 1908
Date of Registration: Feb 2002
Age at Death: 93
Registration district: Worthing
Inferred County: West Sussex
Register number: 1B32C
District and Subdistrict: 7861B
Entry number: 55
This is why you need the birth certificate, and the proposed birth with variant spelling looks a good bet. Pity George is not showing with family on 1911.
