This information is great and i have looked on find my past but unable to find birth of james gray 1842 whose father is robert gray. on the census it shows james born ayrshire but not showing. thank you for all this searching. Sharonrose

1911 - so maybe even born in 1842. Or depending on the dates of the 1901 and 1911 census you may be able to narrow his birth to a particular month?

Looking for any details of my ancestors birth in maybole ayr abt 1847 he later married margaret greer in co.antrim and became an argucutaril implentant manufacturer farming and I am told James Gray & Co was awarded bronze award at dublin exhibition in 1882 for making the 1st irish farming plough but I cant find this anywere. Please can anyone point me in the correct direction please. Sharonrose
